In September of 1983, Labor Day weekend, we moved to Hope Mills, NC to live with Nana. Myself, Chris and Brian moved in at 300 Pinewood Dr. I wanted to make a better life for the boys. Brian was 4 years old. We continue to live in Fayetteville and Chris lives in Angier with his own family almost 22 years later. |

Brian began playing organized basketball with the Upward Basketball program at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. He, his brother Chris and thier friend Luke all joined. Luke and Chris lost interest, but Brian had found is passion! He played for 3 years with the Upward program, and simultaneously played with Parks and Rec, then played for his High School Varsity in his Jr. year. He was captain of the Senior team at Northwood Temple Academy. His jersey, #22 was retired on Feb. 4, 2005 by the school. I have included his number on his marker at the gravesite. He loved that number!!!!! He wore #15 when he played ball in the Coast Guard. Brian played ball unitl the day he leaft this world and I am confident he is playing in his new world... |

Brian graduates with the first senior class at Northwood Temple Academy. The morning of graduation he let me know that he had a biology test, and if he did not pass with a certain grade, he would not be able to graduate! Somewhere around 4pm that day we learned he would indeed gratuate! I thought I was going to ring his neck! As my uncle Tommy likes to say, "He graduated in the top 10 of his class!" There were only 9 seniors! :>) Graduation was a wonderful night! We celebrated here with food, family and friends. Brian's grandma Ann came down from PA, she had not seen him in about 14 years! It was a special night for him, and for us! |

Brian graduates from Coast Guard bootcamp. He is officially Seaman Colletti. We drove to NJ for his graduation. We got in late the night before. I could hardly sleep, I could not wait to see him! It had been 8 weeks, the longest at that point that I had ever been away from him! When we got to the graduation I had a hard time finding him, they all looked the same! It was the first time I saw him with no hair and in full uniform! I remember thinking, God, he is so handsome! I loved how beautiful he looked in his uniform! When we heard his station would be Oregon Inlet, NC, I said a quick prayer thanking God... When we finally got to hug each other, the first thing Brian said to me was that I looked great! He was always complementing me! The next thing he said was, let's go home! We left, started to head home, drove over the bridge when all of a sudden Brian says we have to turn around! He had forgotten his orders! He got to come home for about 19 days before he had to report for duty. He bought a Honda civic and got ready to go. If it were not for John's mom (Brian's grandma), he would have been AWAL! We had the wrong report date! The night before we got everything together for him to leave in the morning. I brought out Brian's Ghostbuster blanket...he would not take it with him. He said he could not bring that to the CG and live on base! I was so sad he was not taking it with him! Brian came home the following weekend, he learned he was within bounds and could come home anytime he was off (as long as it wasn't hurricane season). As he was leaving to return to his station, he came walking out with his Ghostbusters comforter! He said he didn't care what any of the guys had to say, he was bringing his blanket! Most everyone still remembers his Ghostbusters blanket! I have it in my closet where it is safe... |

Brian's basketball jersey was retired during Northwood Temple Academy's Homecoming celebration. The jersey was presented to my husband and I, with several of his friends and family there. His is the first to be retired and it now hangs in the entry way of the gymnasium. I know Brian would be pleased that he has been honored in such a wonderful way. |
